Learn to play "Walking Boss" on clawhammer banjo. This one is modeled after the way Clarence Ashley played the song. He uses a unique clawhammer technique known as 'alternate string pull-offs'. Check out the banjo tablature. In measure 2 there are a couple of open strings marked with a '2' for the fretting hand. This is not an accident. You won't strike the 1st string, you will pull-off, or brush over it with your 2nd finger on your fretting hand. This is a tough maneuver and will require focused practice on the basic maneuver, then with just the second measure before you try to start playing the whole song or larger pieces of the song.
