Richland Woman Blues is a great tune for fingerstyle blues guitar by Mississippi John Hurt. This version is closely modeled after the master's playing. This accompaniment is based on what John would play as he sang. It's a bit more restrained and the notes more closely follow the melody. The lyrics are included in the guitar tablature. This will help you see the connection between the lyrics and the notes and timing of what's being played on guitar.

Pay close attention to the fingerings for the fretting and picking hands in the guitar tablature. There's a few techniques to be aware of. Whenever the F chord shape is used, John would wrap the thumb of his fretting hand over the top of the guitar neck to fret the bass note. This is a very common move among fingerstyle blues players and rock guitarists.

Another technique to watch out for involves the picking hand. You'll notice this one in measures 7 & 13. The index finger comes down to the first string and plays it just before the middle finger plays it again immediately after. This allows you to play at higher speeds with great efficiency. Two fingers are faster than one!
