Here is the A minor blues scale for guitar. Follow the suggested fingerings in the guitar tablature. Your 1st finger will get notes on the 1st fret, 2nd finger will get notes on the 2nd fret, and 3rd finger will play notes on the 3rd fret. This is a basic "position playing" rule we use on the guitar. Since your first finger is playing 1st fret notes, this is known as 1st position. This rule will be broken, but a good foundation should be built before you start "breaking" all the rules.

Aim for long sustained notes. Leave fret hand fingers down as long as possible. A good beginning challenge is to play each note in the scale and let it sustain as long as possible. After you are able to make clear notes for each one in the scale, try to play in time with the player.
