This is a simplified melody for Shady Grove on guitar. Simple isn't bad. Simple is solid. Simple is strong. Don't avoid playing this because you want to only play harder things to sound "more advanced". Try to play this with great tone, timing and confidence. That alone is a great challenge.
Pay attention to the pick direction and fret hand fingerings in the guitar tablature.
Learning the same melody in a different key can do wonders for your understanding of fretboard layout and introduce you to totally new sounds. A capo at the 5th fret is recommended here since Dm is the standard jam key for this tune. However, if you are just playing and practicing by yourself, a capo isn't necessary. Just follow the guitar tab as it is. It will still sound exactly like Shady Grove, because it is! Without a capo, you'll just be playing in A minor.
