Here is the B minor blues scale for mandolin. This one is in the 2nd octave, and is played on the A and E strings. Follow the suggested fingerings in the mandolin tablature. Your 1st finger will be used for the F note on the 1st fret of the E string and the F# note on the 2nd fret. This is a basic "position playing" rule we use on the mandolin. This rule will be broken, but a good foundation should be built before you start "breaking" all the rules.
Aim for long sustained notes. Leave fret hand fingers down as long as possible. A good beginning challenge is to play each note in the scale and let it sustain as long as possible. After you are able to make clear notes for each one in the scale then try to play in time with the player.
