Playing in third position on mandolin requires a lot of strength and coordination. Neither is built with speed, but with slow, steady precision. Aim for a legato sound when practicing this scale. Legato means smooth and connected.
Pay attention to the fret hand fingerings in the mandolin tablature. When you are playing multiple ascending notes on one string, leave fingers down one by one until it's time to switch strings. When playing multiple descending notes on one string have all fingers needed down and prepared before playing the first note in a descending run.
Leaving fingers down or preparing them like that can help you build great technique and strength. However, if you have any pain or experience a lot of struggle then temporarily abandon this approach for something that's ultimately more important: playing on the tips of the finger, with both knuckles bent, and placed just behind the desired fret.
Notice that this is a 2 octave scale. The sections are marked with A & B.
