Vamping is an awesome type of backup that sounds great behind a mandolin player. This tablature for "Big Mon" encourages you to memorize a few licks and vamping patterns and play along with the banjo chord changes listed above the banjo tablature. Work towards memorizing the chord changes and vamping patterns in the licks. Those are in measures 1, 2, 4, & 12. After nailing those down you will be equipped to play backup for the whole song!

The vamping and backup patterns that work for one measure with the G chord will work for any! For example, the vamping lick for measure 1 will work for measures 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, & 15. That's because a G chord is played for all of those measures. Similarly a vamping pattern for an F chord on measure 2 will work any time an F chord appears
