You always need to know some basic vamping for any tune you play, especially if you plan on playing with others. Vamping works great to backup a mandolin, guitar, or another banjo. Check out some licks to get some more interesting backup ideas. Remember, it's called backup for a reason. Don't be too loud. If you can't hear the person taking the lead, or singing lead, you're playing too loud!
