Here's a great version of Cotton Eyed Joe for clawhammer banjo. This is one of the many ways the tune is played. Some people don't add in the "D" chord here, others play it more like the Old_Time version we have here on Tunefox. Listen to the example recording from Tommy Jarrell or David Holt to hear this classic melody in action. Listen as a part of practice - with original recordings and definitely with the Tunefox player. Listening will boost your memory and musicality.
After you get down the basic arrangement check out the licks. Here you can explore a large amount of variations and maybe even learn or master some new techniques like pull-offs, hammer-ons, slides, and drop thumb playing. Use the focus feature and tempo slider to listen and practice until they are easy for you before playing them in the full arrangement.
If the full arrangement is tough for you, use your sliders. Slide the tempo slider to adjust the speed, or use the difficulty slider to remove some of the add-in notes.
