This version of Columbus Stockade Blues for guitar is a good study in the A minor pentatonic scale. That's used as the main riff for the A section while the A minor chord is being played. When the chord progression changes to E, you'll use a lick that's really common in the bluegrass world: the unison slide.

The B section is interesting. It shows how using a repeating pattern of only 3 notes we can come up with a great sounding riff. There's a simple minor scale "dance" that happens over the D minor and A minor chords, and a cool E7 arpeggio before we come back to the second half of the chorus(which is the same as the second half of the verse).

For measures 24 & 25 we could have just used that main A minor pentatonic riff, but ending on the root note of A right on the first beat of the last measure gives things a much more final feeling of resolution.
