A Minor - 2 Octave Workout

Back
  • 2 Octave Workout
  • Key   Am
  • Tempo   60 bpm
  • Tuning   GDAE

Time to workout all the notes in first position on the mandolin for the key of A minor. In first position you can get 2 full A minor scales. Here you will combine both octaves. Follow the fingerings in the mandolin tablature.

At first you may need to go slow. Just one note at a time without the player. Fret, pick, and let it ring. How long can you make that note last? Push it to the limit, then play the next one in the scale. This approach will really workout your stamina and strength when holding notes down.

When playing in time with the Tunefox player, you may want to start as slow as the player will allow. You could also use the focus feature to just practice the scale ascending. Going slow and smooth is a skill you need to develop to make a pleasing sound. We all want to go fast, but don't practice at a speed beyond your current limit. You don't want to develop a habit of being fast and sloppy.
