Vamping is an important skill to learn if you jam with others. It also helps you practice good timing and better understand the notes on the banjo fretboard. Here, you'll use a basic boom-chuck-chuck pattern for the rhythm with the root chord shape for G & C. For the D chord, the 1st inversion shape is used. This is so you don't have to "shift" as much. Pay close attention to the fret and pick hand fingerings listed in the banjo tablature.
If you need to start simple and check out this basic lesson on Vamping. Also, learn your three basic vamping shapes and the pattern that connects them.
