Bluegrass in the Backwoods - Rolling Backup

Back
  • Rolling Backup
  • Key   Dm
  • Tempo   80 bpm
  • Tuning   aDGBD

Make sure to spike your 5th string at the 7th fret for this one, or tune it up to A. You can play this without spiking or retuning the 5th string, it will just have a different sound. When we spike the 5th string at the 7th fret we get an A note, which is part of a Dm chord and scale. The G note is part of the Dm scale but not the chord, so it's just not as strong or powerful of a note, and will "color" each chord in a different way

Pay attention to those fingerings and check out some licks!

This one is based on the original recording. the band comes in on the A7 chord halfway through measure one, if you're jamming with others you won't leave that space, just do an 8 note roll on a Dm chord and you'll be good to go!
