Here are all the important call and response phrases for "Dueling Banjos!" Use the focus feature to loop the different sections and the "pickup notes" that lead into the phrase. Listen repeatedly to understand the timing. Then practice repeatedly slowly. If playing along with the player is too hard even at slow speeds, don't beat yourself up about it. Just play one note at a time, get the notes in the right order, and play as cleanly as possible.
Check out the banjo tablature. For the pick hand fingering it's suggested to use mostly the thumb for the melodic lines. This is for ease of learning and tonal consistency. It's usually a lot easier to get strong consistent notes with the thumb than with three different fingers and two types of picks! You could also play most of this in the "home" position for the pick hand. Thumb will pick strings 3, 4 & 5. Index will pick 2nd string notes, and middle finger will pick 1st string notes. This is good practice and prep for Scruggs style banjo playing
While most of the phrases aren't too tough, there are a lot of challenging and interesting variations in the licks! We have you covered if you want to add some melodic, single string, two-finger or Scruggs style flair. There's lots of great ideas to explore.
