The Clever Way to Learn & Practice Bluegrass Music
Learn to play backup for Groundspeed on the banjo. This backup arrangement is all about vamping. Vamping is a specific type of backup for banjo that works great behind a mandolin, guitar, or another banjo.
In this arrangement you will use the open D string as an alternate "bass" note in your vamping pattern. This is not common on banjo, but yields a great sound that imitates the alternating bass notes you will hear a guitar or an upright bass player play. It's a nifty trick to add to your arsenal of backup banjo vocabulary.
