This étude uses the chord progression and melody of the song "Shackles and Chains" as a vehicle to study "double stops" and rolling backup.
Double stops are simply 2 note chords. Along with using these common double stop chord shapes, you'll also learn to incorporate a few banjo roll patterns walks to navigate this "split" instrumental break. A split break is a instrumental lead that is split between two different instruments or players. The first half of this is intended to be played as a lead, and the second half for backup.
As always look for the licks that will help give you new perspective on this tune and teach you cool and reusable banjo vocabulary that you can use in other songs and situations.
