The Clever Way to Learn & Practice Bluegrass Music
Here's a simple bluegrass guitar arrangement for the chorus section of Wayfaring Stranger. Read the guitar tablature with care. Closely follow those pick direction markings to develop good habits in regard to your alternate picking. Notice the accent signs: ">". These are placed over the key melody notes. Play accented notes slightly harder than others. When we accent the melody, those notes will "stand out" among the crowd of bum-ditty rhythms that are used as a filler throughout this arrangement.
Practice listening. This will serve you so well and really help you develop as a musician. It's especially important on measures with tricky timing. Measures 3 & 7 deserve a few extra listens with the focus feature. Repeated listening to understand. Repeated practice at slow speeds to master. When trying to increase speed move it up just a few BPM at a time.
