This crosspicking guitar arrangement for Wayfaring Stranger covers both the chorus and verse melody. The important melody notes are marked with an accent sign: ">" in the guitar tab. When you see that symbol above a note you should play it slightly louder than the others. Accenting melody notes makes sure the important notes don't get lost in the middle of all the fancy crosspicking.
The crosspicking fills space between melody notes and uses a repeating picking pattern on the bass strings. The crosspicking runs all use chord notes. Try to play those with an even volume and not too loudly. Use the focus feature and practice a measure at a time slowly. After getting down some of the basics there is a world of licks to explore. You can customize this and learn some great vocabulary and concepts. Try to analyze what you learn. Notice repeating picking patterns, chords shapes, scales or rhythm patterns that are being used in the tablature.
