A simple concept with an amazing effect. Sonny uses the forward backward roll and switches chord inversions in the middle of each roll. Sliding out of each chord shape makes the lick even more exciting. This one obviously works in rocky top, but it could also be applied anywhere we have a split measure of G and F. This would work perfect in the B part of Old Joe Clark. The concept of this lick could be applied to any chord or song. You don't need a chord change, just switch chord in versions in the middle of forward backwards roll, or any roll for that matter.
