Watch the video! You'll get tips on how to create your own simple rolling backup based on the forward backward roll. For leads and backup it's always best to start simple and solid. Build a strong foundation before trying to get fancy.
Here's the basic concept. The way we have the tablature written out, you are rolling with 16th notes. That means you have the space for two 8 note rolls, or four 4 note rolls, for each measure. We suggest you start simple. Strong foundations, remember? Try out 2 forward backward rolls each measure. Also, take note of the chord symbols above the tab. This helps you know when to switch chord shapes when creating rolling backup. You'll do an F chord for the second roll in measure two. In measure 4 you will switch to F during the second half of the first roll
This chord progression is the same for the A and B section of Angelina Baker. The form of the tune is AABB. That means you'll play through this backup 4 times for one time through the entirety of Angelina Baker. Make sure to practice listening to recorded versions of this tune by artists you like. You learn a lot by listening and it's important part of practice and learning.
