Dixie Hoedown Banjo Tablature: One Song, Many Styles
Recomended level: Intermediate
Dixie Hoedown is an awesome instrumental that was written by the legendary Jesse McReynolds. We have a Melodic and a Single String banjo tablature arrangements to check out.. Learning the single string version first will really help you understand the movement of the melody and see where the notes change and how they move up and down in pitch. When playing in the melodic style that if often easy to hear but hard to see. The single string often requires more fret hand work than melodic, and can be very intuitive for your pick hand once you get used to the alternating thumb and index pick pattern.
Something that will help improve your playing on either tune is being more familiar with the G major scale and doing some exercises for the style you choose to learn, and if you are doing both, then incorporate some scale practice and exercises for single string and melodic banjo into your practice. Click here to check out our roadmaps for Single String Banjo and Melodic Banjo . Roadmaps on Tunefox are a collection of Songs, Exercises and Learning Paths that are designed to inspire and help you deepen your understanding of that style. The Learning Paths are a guided collection of mini-lessons that have videos, tablature and text.
