Make sure to "spike" or capo your 5th string at the 7th fret for this Scruggs style version of Over the Waterfall for banjo. Earl didn't typically play in D without a capo, although he did sometimes. Because of that there's not as much traditional "language" to draw from. However we can still play in D without a capo(besides that 5th string) and get a great traditional sound. This is achieved by using similar roll patterns and fret hand maneuvers he used in other seminal tunes and adapting them to this key.

This one is big fun. Pay attention to fret hand and pick hand fingerings in the banjo tablature. There's also some nice licks to explore after you get comfortable with the basic arrangement.
