This excellent two finger version of Roll in My Sweet Baby's arms is a blast! This is a great banjo break that is based on the melody and includes some fill-in notes and pinches to add life and excitement to this Bluegrass classic. This one is very accessible for beginners, but can be a great way to get through this tune at absolutely blinding speeds for more intermediate and advanced players. It's a lot easier to play a few less notes at high speed than to try and play a lot more notes at high speed!

If you haven't learned the basic melody yet. Do that first! It's important to have strong foundations before trying to build something fancy. Without good foundations it all falls apart. After learning the basic melody try to spot those important melody notes in this two finger arrangement. Notice how some notes are changed to create interest.

The notes with an ">" above them should be accented. That means you play them slightly louder than the others. If you notice they are over the groups of lead-in notes. These lead-ins are used to start tunes and create a strong rhythmic feel and sense of melodic direction in the middle of tunes. They truly help to lead in to one section of the melody from another.
