Learn to play teardrop style backup for "Take this Hammer" on the banjo. Here, you will learn to use this classic backup style that is played mostly on the first 2 or 3 strings. After measure 10 some other backup and vamping techniques are incorporated. All of this is based on the way Earl Scruggs played during the recording of 'Flatt & Scruggs: Live at Carnegie Hall'.
The A section is chord progression used for the verse & chorus. The B section is what is played for the short instrumental turnarounds. Often Earl would not play during the chorus to focus on singing, but you can play if ya wanna!
There's more Scruggs style variations to explore in the lick switcher. Many of them will work great as "fills" to fill in the spaces where the singer isn't singing. Check those out after getting the hang of navigating this chord progression.
