This fiddle tune sounds great on the bass strings. We use as many open notes as we can in the arrangement, that's just part of the flat-picking style, but if you're up for a challenge, check out some of the licks to give your pinky and your picking hand a workout!

The melody is played, for the most part, on the treble strings. It requires frequent use of the pinky. This is a good opportunity to work on or exercise that finger if you are not used to it. If you check out the licks, many of those will show you how to play the same phrase for any measure in a closed position. Closed position means you only use fretted notes(no open strings). Most of this tune is played in 2nd position. When in 2nd position your index finger will grab notes on the second fret. Pay attention to the fingering notes above the tab for guidance. Measure 5 requires a shift to the first position. The most opportune time to make a position shift is when open strings are played.
