This version of Dooley for the banjo is a very accurate melody. It's close to the way it was sung by Rodney Dillard. He was a member of the group known as the Dillards. They were one of the most influential Bluegrass bands of all time.
The reason this melody is called "syllabic" is because each syllable is played on the banjo as the melody would have been sung by a singer. This makes it sound very accurate. If you have listened to this song a bunch, it will sound just right. If you haven't listened a bunch, then it's time to catch up. Start listening and make it a part of practice
While this melody is more "accurate" it's also harder to play. Pay close attention to the fingerings in the banjo tablature for both the pick hand and the fret hand. Use Tunefox tools like the focus feature and tempo slider to listen to tricky measures and then practice them until they become easier. Do this at slow speeds
