This is a great version of Beaumont Rag for guitar. We used the playing of Doc Watson as a model and then simplified it in some ways to increase playability and we wanted to make some of the concepts being used more obvious and easier to understand. When learning a new tune, by tablature or by ear, it's important to try and understand what's going on. This can help you start to be creative on your own sooner.


So, notice some of the scales being used. There's a lot of pentatonics and major scales. There's also some "blue" notes. Those are the spots where major and minor sounds are combined. The hardest part of the tune will likely be the cross-picking that starts in the B part. Follow the pick direction markings closely. Use the focus feature on measures 19 & 20 to really nail the picking pattern.
