Don't Let Your Deal Go Down is a classic bluegrass tune that is a ball to play on mandolin. The chord changes borrow a bit from the jazz world. It's what's known as a "6-2-5-1" chord progression. Here's something to pay attention to - the final chord in a progression is usually the key. Look for the final chord near the end of a song, or song section. This isn't always the case, but a lot of the time this rule holds true.

More about the 6-2-5-1. In the key of G we have 7 scale notes: G A B C D E F#. We often use numbers to talk about chords in a key. The number for a chord is based on the root note of a chord and it's position in the scale. For example the root note of a G chord is G, and in the key of G, it's the "1". Usually, the 1 4 5 are major chords, and the 2 3 & 6 are minor. In this song you might be able to figure out we are using a major chord for the 6 and a major chord for the 2. This takes us out of the key of G momentarily. That's one reason why those chords have such a compelling sound.
