Frosty Morning Mandolin Tablature: One Song, Many Styles

Frosty Morning - AKA "Cold Frosty Morning", "Cold Frosty Morn'", or even "Frosty Morn'" - is a fiddle tune that is a part of the Bluegrass, Old-time and Celtic world. It sounds great on the mandolin and is a wonderful opportunity to explore the wonderful sounds of the A minor scale. Use those A minor scales as a warmup before you play this tune. Also remember to practice listening and reading. Mental practice is practice and you don't need to have your instrument in your hands!

The David Schnaufer version is based on the his dulcimer playing from an album he did with Butch Baldassari. The Shawn Lane version is based on his fiddle playing with Blue Highway. Shawn is a highly regarded fiddle player, just as Blue Highway is one of the most highly regarded Bluegrass bands of all-time. He uses a lot of Celtic and Bluegrass flavors. The main arrangement has been simplified.
