What's In Store

Foggy Mountain special is a classic Scruggs tune. It's different than most of his instrumentals. This is a fun and bouncy tune. It's not about lightning fast rolls and riffs. It has a distinct swing feel. Instead of rolls, there are a lot of individual melody notes and syncopated phrases. One of the big techniques used here is double thumb. Double index, and double middle finger are also used. This may be a big change if you are used to roll patterns, so take this as slow as you need to. Listen to the recordings and video examples often. Listening repeatedly is as important as physically practicing, especially when learning a new tune.
