Flatpicking Step #2 - Upstrokes

Practicing Upstrokes with Open Strings

As you know, the upstroke is the opposite of the downstroke and it's an essential movement for building speed on guitar. For the upstroke, practice imagining the weight of your hand moving up through the string. This will give you some momentum when you start to add downstrokes and upstrokes together for alternate picking.

Flatpicking Step 2 - Upstrokes

Just as we did in the previous lesson, play four notes on each string and then do two notes. Play through from the 6th string to the 1st and then go back down to the 6th.
