I'll Fly Away

Practicing Bum-Ditty and Walking Bass

Here we have MORE of the same. More use of the Bum Ditty, and some more involved bass runs. All in the lick switcher. Use the looper to nail them down. Be able to play it looped 3-5 times in a row before adding to the tune. As soon as you are comfortable with the rhythm and have the chord progression memorize, put it into action. Open up the I’ll Fly Away lead lesson on Tunefox, turn down the band volume and play along. With the metronome going it will ensure you are staying in time, and you will get a sense of how your instrument supports the lead player. Loop the entire song and play through several times, adding in some of the bass runs and rhythm patterns once they’ve been memorized.
