Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star - Melody

What We've Been Working Towards

Now that you've gained control over striking individual strings and playing a partial scale, you're ready to start playing a melody! We'll start with a familiar tune that most people know. If you have trouble here, don't feel bad about revisiting previous lessons. It is encouraged. Going back to the open string workouts will only help you strike individual strings more consistently and clearly. Going back to the scale, or the scale workout, will only help you become more comfortable and efficient with that. Progress is rarely a straight line.

Finger preparation in both hands is extremely important to playing this cleanly and increasing your speed.

Next up, we'll apply the bum-ditty to this melody. You'll see how a banjo tune is born!
