Syncopation

A Stylish Scruggs Riff

This is one cool riff. Earl Scruggs would often syncopate beats in his playing. It gave his already amazing style an extra element of cool. The rhythmic flair that comes from syncopating the beat can be absolutely infectious.

The other part of this stylish lick is the double choke(bend) on the 11th fret. Again, make sure not to over bend. Use your pick hand thumb to strike the note. To give a little extra accent, strike those notes slightly harder.
