Adding Another Fretted Note to the Roll

Once again, altering one note in a lick can really change the sound. Use your first finger on your fretting hand to play both of these notes. This fingering is used to prepare your hands to play the full fledged Scruggs lick that we're working towards!

Remember to practice as slow as you need to play this cleanly. Playing slow can also allow you to focus on other musical aspects like tone, dynamic control and touch. Just because you can play this roll at 150 BPM doesn't mean you shouldn't practice it at 80 or slower. There's a lot of music to be had in those slow tempos.

We're adding one more fretted note in the next lesson, it's really gonna change the sound of this lick. It's starting to take shape!
