Boil them Cabbage Down

Applying basic crosspicking patterns to a song

Picking patterns have been practiced into oblivion, and you are ready to add variety and chords in right? If not please go back and practice your picking patterns some more. If so, let’s do this! A good way to practice this new song is to loop a measure at a time at a tempo that is easy for you. After you can play measure one several times in a row with few mistakes, begin to practice measure two on a loop, and so on. Then loop two measures at a time then the whole song. After you are comfortable with the whole song, don’t just play once and stop, play it repeatedly. That’s what practice is all about. The only way to make something feel easy is to do it a lot!
