Cripple Creek on the Bass Strings

This version of Cripple Creek is played within the same octave as the scale we just learned. In some of the licks you'll see some notes not seen in the previous scale. Chromatic licks can sound really cool when used sparingly. Chromatic means you move a half step at a time. Notice we move chromatically, but always end up on a scale tone. You can move outside a scale, but you don't want to stay there too long.
