A Nod to Earl - Emerson Style

This one is cool. Emerson uses classic Scruggs language and adds a subtle twist. The slide up intro lick from the end of measure one to the start of measure two is classic Earl. Scruggs did that kind of thing all the time. Measure 3 id where the subtle difference happens. Instead of the 2-3 slide or 3-2 pull-off Earl would use, Emerson goes to the 4th fret. This removes that major blues element Earl incorporated so much. Instead of a Bluesy sound we get something that is just clean and pretty. It's a nice change, and a simple way to vary those classic Scruggs "sayings".
