6.2 Changing Chords - G to D video
Tunefox Mandolin Lesson #6
Changing from G major to D major is a little more complicated than G to C, but it's not difficult. Let's look at the process of switching between these two chords.
First, put on your G chord. Now while you have this chord on, visualize where your D major chord is on the fretboard. Can you see where your fingers will be moving to? Without lifting your fingers far off of the fretboard, move your index finger to the 2nd fret, 4th string and your middle finger to the 2nd fret, 1st string. You can even just slide your middle finger back to the 2nd fret because it's starting place is on the 3rd fret 1st string. Practice this movement before adding the strumming pattern.
